Classic and comforting, this Apple Pie features a flaky, golden crust filled with tender, cinnamon-spiced apples, making it the perfect dessert for any time of year!
Ingredients
- 2 ready-to bake pie crusts
- 454g/1lb sliced, peeled apples
- 150g/5oz caster sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Clotted Cream with Gingerbread Flavour
Method
- Heat oven to 425°F / 220°C. Place the pie crust in an ungreased 9-inch tin or glass dish. Press firmly against the side and bottom.
- In a large bowl, gently mix the apples, sugar flour, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and lemon juice. Spoon the apple mixture into the pie crust.
- Top with the second pie crust. Tuck the excess top crust under the bottom crust edge, pressing edges together to seal. Flute around the edge of the dish and cut several slits into the top crust.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, then cover the crust with a 2-3 inch wide strip of foil to prevent burning. Bake for a further 25 minutes or until golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and cool the pie on a wire rack.
- Serve warm with a generous topping of Clotted Cream with Gingerbread Flavour.
